Was The Killing of Ashli Babbitt Murder or Justified?

Writer's picture: Millie WeaverMillie Weaver

Millie Weaver asks people their thoughts on whether or not law enforcement should use lethal force to quell protests that get out of hand.

Babbitt, 35, an Air Force veteran and supporter of former President Donald Trump was shot by Capitol police while being lifted up through a window by other protesters. She subsequently fell to the ground and died.

Oh January 6th last year an unarmed protester named Ashli Babbitt was shot and killed inside the Capitol building by Capitol Police Officer Lt. Michael Byrd during a protest action that escalated into some protestors trespassing into the Capitol building.

i think she should not have went through a broken window towards the chambers of the capitol while wearing a backpack, surrounded by antifa actors, swat in a stairwell, and capitol police... she was a stupid actor.

NAZI's burned the Reichstag and blamed their opponents. They are doing it again. The lefty with the mask swallowed the entire NAZI narrative. They didn't storm the capitol except the State/Congress leadership election riggers people who engineered the break. Most people walked in thinking it was open. Remember the nuts during Kavanaugh? That was an insurrection.

In Court...."Officer's don't think for themselves, they rely on what their training tells them. Their training tells them what to do and how to respond." A Qualified Immunity Defense requires evidence to support the Officer followed policies and procedures. Officer had no authority to fire his weapon due to the fact there is no Officer training for shooting into a crowd aimlessly. It is clear without any doubt this Officer's actions were of his own, while in uniform, on duty acting under the color of the law. There is no evidence that can prove she was a threat to him or anyone else. How could Babbitt specifically cause the Officer to fear for his life?? With so many people doing…

officer should have said a command. other than that he did not shoot into a crowd. he shot into the threat coming through a broken window and backed by a wall. the babbit rabbit was a stupid woman who met a stupid man. only the man received a pardon though.she had antifa goading her on, while swat sat in the stairwell until she was shot. seemed staged to me.

As a veteran I feel a profound loss that a fellow veteran was tricked into being the person killed.
